UMove Fitness Fall Registration is now open! You can view and register for class by clicking the Classes tab above. A list of classes will be available on our UMove site at www.umove.kines.umich.edu shortly. The CCRB is closed until Aug 30, so you will not be able to come into our office until then.

You must be a currently enrolled UM student or have a Rec Sports membership to get into the Rec Sports buildings for classes. If neither apply, you must purchase a Limited User Pass in the UMove office. You can still register for your class online; but plan to come into our office for the Limited User Pass before class begins.

Please use only Internet Explorer or Firefox to enter online registrations. After entering your credit card information, you MUST click on the "CLICK HERE TO..." button to complete your registration. If you don't, your credit card will be charged, but you won't be enrolled in the class.

Whats New
Prenatal Yoga

For pregnant women (spouses and partners are welcome, too). The class includes a mixture of balancing, strengthening and stretching poses that are appropriate during pregnancy, emphasizing breathing and relaxation. Give your baby the gift of yoga — a relaxed mom! No yoga experience is necessary.

Capoeira

Born out of an ever present need to protect themselves in a hostile environment, Africans enslaved in Brazil practiced a martial art now called Capoeira. It was and is composed of cat like movements where participants collapse to the ground, use cart-wheels, flips, handstands and many other deceptive movements to avoid strikes and injury by opponents. All of these actions are combined to compose a fluid form of martial art. Participants will explore some of the basics of this art form to the rich and vibrant sounds of Afro-Brazilian percussion. Develop amazing balance, flexibility and strength with slow and controlled movements.  Students will have the opportunity to play the instruments involved with Capoeira as well as practice Brazilian samba and other cultural dances on some occasions.

Movement Meditation

Movement meditation combines relaxation and toning with energetic movement to varied, danceable music. Each class will include exercises based in yoga and dance forms, guided imagery evoking creative movement, and a fun, freestyle dance session.

MOVEMED-101: Please note this class meets at the NCRB.
